JAKARTA: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated the digital television transmitter TVRI Jakarta, Surabaya and Batam, which will become the new standard TV broadcasts globally.




The President was accompanied by Madame Ani Yudhoyono, along with the Minister of Communications and Information Tifatul Sembiring, Governor Fauzi Bowo, and Director of TVRI Imas Sunarya digital television transmitter was inaugurated. The inauguration was marked by dialogue video conference with the Governor of SBY Surabaya and Batam.
TVRI itself has started testing the digital broadcasting since 2007 in Jakarta with a single digital channel. Now, the digital broadcasting began in Jakarta, Surabaya and Batam offers four digital channels. One for the national broadcast channels, channel two for the broadcast of DKI Jakarta, channel three for the documentary and education, then channel four for sports and education.
Indonesian television broadcast digitalization was claimed earlier than that applied by the government and the United States television industry, which according to plan, to begin in 2011.
